Welcome to the home of the Lindisfarne Riverside Arts Club

Speech, Drama and Play Reading

Riverside has experienced quite a theatrical journey since it began in 1958. The History section provides more informative detail. In the late 1950's Ellen Dickson, a local resident & founder of Riverside Arts Club, saw an opportunity to provide a space for artistic & performance opportunities through organising activities in a 'barn' on her property.  Up until the mid to late 1980's Riverside performed numerous one, two & three act plays in the district. Some productions even toured regionally in Tasmania.

In more recent years the club acknowledges the theatrical performance contributions made by Brian Lovett, followed later by Howard Richardson, and then Philip Crouch, all highly creative drama directors for the club.

Today in 2012, the Speech, Drama and Play Reading component of the club provides drama content and related performance activities such as pantomimes, short sketches for our major concerts. Play readings are also held on the first Monday of each month, 2:00PM - 4:00 PM at a private home on Hobart's eastern shore.

The genre of these readings vary from comedy to melodrama covering a wide variety of titles. For more information about play readings contact Penny Fellows (03) 6244 8032 or John Trigg (03) 6249 3279
