Members
Like any other community based musical or theatrical organisation Lindisfarne Riverside Arts Club Inc comprises of both women & men of all ages, and from all walks of life. Each individual contributes their own special abilities and talents to the club's overall performances. Click on to the history page for more info. Members within the club often state that this has been their first opportunity to rekindle a life long desire to sing with a group. It is a very powerful energy, boosting individual confidence, contributing to health and wellbeing and overall social interaction with like minded people.
There are a number of members who also play musical instruments. We have pianists, a flautist, a trumpet player (the CD features Viv Curtain, & Robyn Marsden) and guitarists. These instruments are often heard during concert performances or at social nights where impromptu mini performances are undertaken for the enjoyment of members & friends.
In the Speech, Drama and Play Reading context, many members have experienced their first stage role during a Riverside production and have continued to develop their skills both within the club and outside performing for other groups. During rehearsal sessions the developing performance roles can be as interesting as any final concert.
Of benefit to both members and audiences, is the quality of commitment demonstrated at choir rehearsals by all participants. This commitment and dedication is carried through at concert and community event performances.
It is not all hard work or rehearsal-performance focused activities as the club hosts various social evenings. These evenings provide an opportunity for impromptu singing, poetry reading, musical activities and mini drama sketches, ensuring a fun night is enjoyed by everyone who attends.
The club's monthly newsletter, Riverside Review keeps members & friends interested, and others informed of the club's events, and other singing/theatrical performances occurring in Hobart. Hard copies are distributed to members & friends at choir rehearsals or by post. Riverside Review is also available via email in HTML/PDF format. If you would like to receive a copy or be placed on a confidential e-mailing list please message on our contact page.
If you would like to join the Lindisfarne Riverside Arts club please send us a message on our contact page.
